Kimber, Andrews faceoff in title match of N. Central Invitational

Two of the top college wrestlers from the state of Alaska squared off at the North Central Invitational in Naperville, Illinois.
It figured the match came down to a tiebreaker.
Sitka’s Sydnee Kimber of McKendree University scored an 8-7 decision Akiak’s Agatha Andrews of Jamestown University in the finals of the women’s 191-pound weight class.
The score was 7-7 at the finish, forcing a tiebreaker to decide the winner between the two sophomores.
Kimber, of Mt. Edgecumbe High fame, finished 3-0 in the tournament. She is ranked No. 2 in NCAA D2.

Agatha Andrews
She was one of five McKendree wrestlers to take home an individual title as the Bearcats secured the team championship among 17 squads.
Andrews, of Akiak High fame, went 2-1 in the tournament. She is ranked No. 3 in NAIA.
Another Alaskan to reach the podium at the North Central Invitational was Jolie Lucas of Fairbanks.
The McKendree freshman placed third at 101 pounds.
Lucas, of Eielson High fame, is ranked No. 5 at NCAA D2.
