Carlton’s late 3-pointer lifts North Idaho to upset win
Palmer’s Alex Carlton took over the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of her 14 points and knocking down the winning 3-pointer in the final seconds as North Idaho beat Wenatchee Valley 66-63 in the NWAC.
She hit 3-of-5 field goals (including two 3s) and 3-of-3 free throws in the final quarter as the Cardinals erased a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit.
Her second 3 of the quarter with 2:57 left tied the game at 59-59.
North Idaho improved to 8-7, dropping No. 7 Wenatchee Valley to 11-6. Both teams are 2-2 in the East division.
Carlton, of Colony High fame, has reached double figures in 10 of 14 games and leads North Idaho in scoring at 13.2 points per game.
She ranks No. 20 in the NWAC with a .358 3-point shooting percentage.
