When the Spokane Community College men’s basketball team needed a lift, Kaeleb Johnson of Anchorage was there to lead the way.
The freshman guard pumped in eight straight points during a pivotal second-half run that sparked the Sasquatch to an 81-73 win over Walla Walla in the NWAC.
Johnson, of East High fame, scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half.
With the score tied 52-52, he sank a 3-pointer, a jumper and another 3 to give Spokane a 60-55 lead.
He also made a jumper with 1:14 to play to make it 79-70.
Johnson’s 19-point performance was one shy of his season high.
This was the tenth time in 13 games that Johnson has netted double figures. He is averaging 12.3 points per game.
