Hebard collects 22 points, 12 points as Oregon crushes UConn

Ruthy Hebard
Ruthy Hebard of Fairbanks collected her 50th career double-double and the No. 3 Oregon women’s basketball team made history with a 74-56 victory over No. 4 UConn in Storrs, Connecticut.
The Ducks handed UConn its first home loss since 2013 and most lopsided loss ever at Gampel Pavilion, where the Huskies have gone 296-8 since the 1993-94 season.
Hebard made 10-of-14 field goals for and a couple free throws to score 22 points. She added 12 rebounds and two blocked shots.
The 6-foot-4 senior was a catalyst in Oregon’s dominating post game, setting screens and peeling off pick-and-rolls to get lots of looks at the rim.
She produced more points in the paint than the entire UConn team.
Hebard, of West Valley High fame, has 10 double-doubles in 22 games this season and is averaging 16.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Geno Auriemma says Ruthy Hebard gets criticized for a lack of range. "But Ruthy gets the shots she wants and knows how to get it, and gets it as many times as she can, and makes it. That's the sign of a helluva player. … She had her way against our guys in the lane."
