Savo scores all 22 points in second half, leads Whatcom to win
Kenneth Savo of Dillingham scored all of his season-high 22 points in the final 22 minutes of the game to lead Whatcom College to an 86-82 come-from-behind overtime win over Shoreline in the NWAC.
The 6-foot sophomore guard took the game over early in the second half when he scored 10 straight points to single-handedly erase his team’s four-point halftime deficit.
His 3-pointer tied the score at 65-65 with 3:27 left in regulation. He also went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line inside the final minute of overtime to ice the victory.
Savo, of Dillingham High fame, finished with a season high in 3-pointers (5), free throws (7) and points (22).
He is averaging 7.4 points in 14 games after missing the first half of the season with an injury.
