Griffin grabs 13 boards, captures 4th WNBL title in Australia
Eagle River’s Kelsey Griffin ripped down a game-high 13 rebounds and played 35 minutes as the Canberra Capitals beat the Southside Flyers 71-68 in Game 2 of the WNBL Grand Finals in Australia.
The Capitals swept the best-of-3 series to secure back-to-back championships, giving Griffin four titles in eight WNBL seasons.
Griffin was uncharacteristically quiet offensively with just five points, but she contributed on the glass and on defense.
The 6-foot-2 forward recorded 18 points and 12 rebounds in Game 1.
The Grand Finals bring out the best in Griffin, who has averaged 20.9 points and 14.4 rebounds in seven career Finals games.
She won WNBL championships with the Bendigo Spirit in 2013 and 2014, when the title was determined by a single championship game.
