Hoops star Reimers taking skills, leadership to UAF

Destiny Reimers started at point guard in her first game as a freshman with the Anchorage Christian School basketball game and never missed a game the rest of the way. During her four year career, the Lions were 118-5 with three State Championships. The Lions were strong contenders to win a fourth her senior year before the season was canceled due to COVID 19 Title. She finished with 1,775 points, 652 rebounds, 608 Assists and 363 steals and was named Alaska’s 2020 Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year.  If you get to know Destiny at all, she will tell you she enjoys the assists more than the points. What also is spectacular about Destiny is her ability to lead others. She was the team Captain all four year, which for a young underclassman was a tough task early on but became natural over time.  Beyond the court, she enjoys returning to her roots with the Alaska Native people of Iliamna where her Grandfather Elia Anelon was chief of the Village.  She will bring her leadership and basketball skills to University of Alaska Fairbanks this fall where she earned a basketball scholarship. She plans to pursue a degree in Rural Development.
