Mulhaney brothers lead Houston to 1st ever State Championship

Owen Mulhaney

Gavin Mulhaney

Brothers Gavin and Owen Mulhaney were major catalysts behind Houston High School football team’s magical season in which they went undefeated and won the school’s first ever football State Championship in football.  The season was made even more special due to the adversity the school and community faced with fires and the aftermath of the 2018 earthquake. Both Owen and Gavin were four-year varsity football players for the Hawks and both had historically great senior seasons. Gavin was a first team All State quarterback. Owen was a first team All State running back. Both were decorated linebackers on defense. Gavin was named DIII Offensive Player of the Year and set the single season passing record for the Hawks.  Owen was named State Champion Game MVP and set the single season school rushing record. Both brothers also excelled in basketball and soccer.  Owen and Gavin are working in construction this summer and both plan to attend Dixie State University to study business.
