Hunter Hayes from Wasilla High School has signed his National Letter of Intent to attend Minnesota State University-Moorhead on a wrestling scholarship. He was slated to be a major contributor to the Warrior track program, but lost his senior season due to COVID-19. A versatile athlete, he ran cross country, wrestled, played football, and did multiple events in track and field. On the wrestling mat, he posted a career record of 101-16. He is a two-time Northern Lights Conference champion and finished third in the 2019 ASAA Division I state championships. During three seasons with the Wasilla cross-country running team, he earned three top-10 finishes in the region meet and was region champion as a sophomore. In track and field the he excelled in the 400m, triple jump, long jump, and mile. He anchored the Warrior’s 4x400m relay. Hunter joined the Wasilla varsity football team for the first time as a senior and ran for 425 yards and two touchdowns.
