Service’s Helgeson starred in athletics and academics, to play football at D1 Valpo

Service High School’s Henry Helgeson was a star on the football field and a star in the classroom.  He graduates Summa Cum Laude with the 4.12 GPA and plans to play football for D1 Valparaiso this fall while studying Biochem. Playing wide receiver in Alaska’s largest and most competitive classification, Henry separated himself as the state’s premier offensive player. He was named the state’s Offensive Player of the Year, first team All State, and Conference Offensive Player of the Year. His coach Kahlil Bolling had this to say: “More important than his personal recognitions and awards is Henry’s leadership on the team. Any tasks that have been placed in front of him have been accomplished and achieved with an unwavering sense of diligence and duty to others.” A member of the Biomedical Career Academy at Service and a Capstone graduate, Henry also excelled as a key member of the Cougar varsity basketball and baseball team.
