Soldotna’s Truesdell to become a Nanook

Soldotna High School multi-sport star Jersey Truesdell will be continuing his basketball career with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks. Jersey had a decorated high school career in both football and basketball, earning numerous accolades along the way. In football, he was an All State performer as a junior and senior at both quarterback and defensive back for a Stars squad that won four straight State championships. The team was 19-1 with Jersey starting at quarterback.  In basketball he was a two-time All State performer and helped lead the Stars to the State semifinals as a junior.  Despite his senior season being shortened by the COVID-19 virus he finished his hoops career with 1,189 points, 209 made 3-pointers, and 259 assists. His basketball coach Nolan Rose had this to say about Jersey: “He has an amazing confidence about himself that I think is born out of a lot of hard work and dedication to being a great athlete.”  His football coach Galen Grantley Jr. had this to say about Jersey: “He’s a tremendous young man. I couldn’t be prouder — watching him develop from a small child into the guy he is today.”  Jersey graduates with a 4.0 GPA. A self-described “science guy”, he plans to study Electrical Engineering at UAF.
