South standout Twenhafel to play soccer for Willamette

Samuel “Sammy”Twenhafel is a midfielder and captain for the South Anchorage High School Soccer Team.  As a freshman he scored a goal in OT that led the Wolverines in winning the Alaska High School State Championship in a thrilling shootout.  He was looking forward to his senior year and representing his school.  Sammy was named first team all conference in 2018 and in 2019 as well as being named an Allstate All American Soccer player in 2019 and Gatorade Player of the Year Nominee in 2019 & 2020.  He has played competitively for: USYS Region IV 01 Boys , Cook Inlet SC, Arctic Winter Games Team AK , AK ODP and Westside Timbers 01 Boys Team as well as guest played for AK Rush SC and Darlington Academy 01 Boys Sammy has committed to Willamette University to study Health and Exercise Science and to play soccer for the Bearcats in the Fall. His demand for excellence in the game, physical toughness, endurance, technical ability, humility and love of teammates are among his attributes as not only a soccer player but as friend and teammate no matter what color jersey he wears.
