Piliati helps Dickinson State move to 5-0 for first time since 2010
Anchorage’s Presley Piliati anchored a devastating defense in a 23-3 win that moved Dickinson State University to 5-0 for the first time since 2010.
The senior defensive lineman made a season-high seven tackles and added his first sack of the season to overwhelm Dakota State in the North Star Athletic Association battle.
Piliati, of East High fame, also had a tackle for loss, his third of the season.
Four of his seven tackles were unassisted.
The 6-foot-1, 285-pounder ranks sixth on the team with 15 tackles on the season.
Dickinson State has allowed an average of only 12.4 points per game.
That dominating defensive unit includes two other Alaskans in defensive back Jayden Heartwell of Anchorage and defensive lineman Aaron Faletoi of Soldotna.
Heartwell, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound freshman, had two tackles in this game and ranks 10th on the team with a dozen on the year.
Faletoi, a 6-foot-2 260-pound freshman, had one tackle in this game and is tied for 12th on the team with eight tackles.
Faletoi leads Dickinson State with five tackles for loss. He also owns a sack.
