McDonald named to U.S. National Junior Team prelim roster
Eagle River defenseman Cam McDonald was one of 29 hockey players – and the only Alaskan – named to the U.S. National Junior Team preliminary roster.
The group of players will gather Dec. 6-10 for a training camp at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.
McDonald, of Eagle River High fame, is a sophomore at Providence College.
As a freshman, he played in all 34 games, had an even rating and posted 3-3-6 scoring totals.
All three of his goals were game-winners, which tied for No. 1 in the NCAA among freshman defensemen.
McDonald is one of nine defensemen on the U.S. National Junior Team preliminary roster.
The camp will serve as an audition for roster spots on the 25-player roster that will represent the United States in the 2021 World Junior Championship, which starts later this month in Edmonton, Alberta.
