Nordic skier Brennan named Alaska Athlete of the Week
Alaska Pacific University skier Rosie Brennan spectacular weekend performance in the Swiss Alps earned her Alaska Athlete of the Week honors after she became only the second American after Alaskan Sadie Bjiornsen to wear the yellow bib as the overall World Cup leader.
She also joins Anchorage’s own Kikkan Randall as the lone Americans to win back-to-back World Cup races.
The 2018 Olympian from Anchorage recorded victories in the freestyle sprint and the 10-K freestyle to earn her place as the World Cup series leader across all three disciples: overall, sprint and distance.
Brennan retains her overall and distance World Cup leads as racing takes a holiday break and resumes with the Tour de Ski starting Jan. 1.
The athlete of the week recipient is selected by a panel each Friday and announced Saturday at 11 a.m. on the Sports Guys on CBS Sports Radio 590AM and 96.7FM.
