Anchorage’s Kris Oldham returned to form between the pipes for Clarkson University, making 19 of 20 saves with two scoreless periods in a 6-2 win over Mercyhurst in NCAA D1 hockey.
The senior goalie played 52 minutes and left the game late in the third period with a 6-1 lead after the coach wanted to give the backups some playing time.
Oldham, of East High fame, improved his record to 4-1 this season and lowered his goals against average to 2.22. He is tied for fourth nationally in victories and 22th in GAA.
His performance against Mercyhurst was a nice bounce back after allowing seven goals in his previous two games. Before that he had given up just two goals in two games.
Oldham is one of just two Alaska men currently playing goalie at the D1 level. The Omaha transfer is now 10-6-2 in 16 career college appearances.
