Huffman becomes second AK man to grab 16 boards in D1 game
Brandon Huffman of Anchorage collected the first double-double of his college career after posting career highs of 16 points and 16 rebounds for Jacksonville State University.
The 6-foot-10 senior transfer became the second Alaska man to grab 16 rebounds in a NCAA D1 game, joining Hydaburg’s Damen Bell-Holter, who pulled down 20 rebounds for Oral Roberts in 2013.
Huffman’s game has come alive since leaving North Carolina, where he played limited minutes for the Tar Heels in three seasons.
Things have been much different for him at Jacksonville State.
Huffman, of West High fame, has reached double figures in scoring four times in 10 games and is averaging a career-high 8.2 points per game. His 16 points were a career high.
His previous career high for rebounds was nine set earlier this season against Florida Atlantic.
