Thor does it all for Auburn w/ 15-point, 9-rebound, 4-block effort
JT Thor of Anchorage looked like a veteran the way he rose to the occasion at crunch time for Auburn University.
The 6-foot-10 freshman was brilliant on both ends of the court with a season high 15-point, 9-rebound, 4-block, 3-steal performance in a 94-90 loss to Alabama in the SEC.
Thor was at his best in the second half, helping the Tigers erase an eight-point deficit and twice scoring the go-ahead basket.
In the final five minutes alone, he racked up five points, two rebounds, two steals, two blocks and one assist to give his team a chance to win.
There were times down the stretch when the Alaskan dominated the action.
Like the time he scored seven points in a two-minute span. Or when he converted a three-point play on one end and seconds later blocked a shot on the other end. Or when he assisted on a bucket and then stole the ball, which led to him getting fouled and then sinking a pair of free throws.
Thor, of West High fame, has started all 12 games for Auburn and is averaging 8.3 points and 3.8 rebounds. He is shooting 72.5 percent from the free-throw line (29-of-40) and ranks second on the team in free-throw attempts.
