Hockey standout Walker named Alaska Athlete of the Week

Anchorage’s Nolan Walker is the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Alaska Athlete of the Week after ripping off four goals on four shots to highlight an 8-2 win over Miami of Ohio in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

The St. Cloud State junior forward is the most accurate sniper in college hockey, leading all D1 skaters with a 38.9 scoring percentage. He  has now scored seven goals on just 18 shots. He also furnished an assist to give him his first career five-point night.

Walker tied a NCHC record for most goals and most points in a game. With the scoring effort he surpassed the 50-point career benchmark in his 84th game for St. Cloud State.

The athlete of the week recipient is selected by a panel each Friday and announced Saturday at 11 a.m. on the Sports Guys on CBS Sports Radio 590AM and 96.7FM.
