Haider part of historic three-OT thriller for Army Black Knights
Anchorage’s Daniel Haider and the Army Black Knights made history in more ways than one in their 4-3 win over Sacred Heart in Game 2 of the Atlantic Hockey playoff series.
Army prevailed in three overtimes – the longest game in the 100-year history of West Point hockey.
The victory extended the team’s 13-game (12-0-1) unbeaten streak – the longest since the 1983-84 season.
Army won the best-of-3 series and advanced to the Atlantic Hockey tournament semifinals for the first time since 2017.
Haider, of South High fame, assisted on his team’s first goal of the game in the second period to cut into a 2-0 deficit.
It kickstarted the offense as ten minutes later the Black Knights tied it at 2-2.
Haider scored his sixth goal of the season in a 4-0 win in Game 1 of the series.
The junior forward has a career-high 12 points this season on six goals and six assists.
