Zags closer Jessee named Alaska Athlete of the Week
April 26, 2021
Brody Jessee of Anchorage was named the Alaska Athlete of the Week after recording his first two college saves for Gonzaga University, pitching two shutout innings in each game.
The freshman right-hander has been a big boost to the Zags’ bullpen and was recently promoted from middle reliever to closer.
The former South Wolverines star protected a 2-1 win over Saint Mary’s by throwing two clean innings. In a 3-0 win over Washington, Jessee sealed the deal with a pair of scoreless frames after entering with two runners on base and no outs in the 8th inning.
The athlete of the week recipient is selected by a panel each Friday and announced Saturday at 11 a.m. on the Sports Guys on CBS Sports Radio 590AM and 96.7FM.
